Metro's May Membership Meeting
|
Sales & Marketing Council General Membership Event
The Sales & Marketing Council Co-Chairs, Tony Cretella of Custom Sign Source and Vern Tatum of Carolina Blue Painting hosted a great General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, May 17th. It took place at Sunken Silo Brew Works in Lebanon with food catered by Metropolitan Seafood. We had a great panel of speakers, who focused on creating a clear message for your business. The panelists included Nicole Feenstra of the DNA Agency, Rich Silivanch of Silivanch Communications (now Gravitude) and Pete Verrone of Spinneret Consulting. With Vern as the Emcee for the evening, Tony as the panelist facilitator and inspirinig words from the Metro President, Frank R. Coppola III - the evening was an enjoyable one that is sure to be remembered.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to make the trip and support our Sales & Marketing Council. They put together a great meeting with everyone walking out at the end of the evening with a little bit more knowledge about marketing than they did coming into it.
As Brian Maffia of GPS would say, "Thank you"
Please enjoy some photos from the event below - more shared via Metro's Facebook page, Instagram and upcoming June OnSite.

Remodelers Council & Workforce Development
|
Somerset County Vocational & Technical School
Thursday, May 19th, Metro members gathered to help support our workforce development initiative by educating our youth about the building industry. We want to get more students interested in the trades and this was a great start. Remodelers Council Co-chair, Geraldine Smith of All Inclusive Constrution worked with Gerald Mazzetta in organizing this whole event. We are already looking forward to the next one.
Thank you to all the Metro members who were able to make it out even with the weather as it was. Tammy Murray of Andersen Windows + Doors, Mike Black of Blue Ridge Lumber, Don Dyrness of Main Street Custom Homes & Remodeling, LLC, Brian Maffia of General Plumbing Supply, Geraldine Smith of All Inclusive Construction, Frank R. Coppola III and Linda Garvey of Coppola Brothers, LLC, Andrea LoMonaco of Wells Fargo, Frank Belgiovine of Belmont Construction, and Greg Koryszewski of QQIC, Ltd.

Student Chapter - Roxbury High School

UPDATE
Frank Caccavale and his students have officially moved their student-built modular Morris Habitat for Humanity home! It moved on May 18th, 2022 from the Roxbury High School parking lot to it's permanent site at 501 Edith Road by two cranes. History in the making!
How amazing would it be if Frank's way of teaching became the norm and at the end not only was a house built for a deserving family but students came out of it saying that they wanted to work in the trades? Win-Win-Win as Metro President Frank R. Coppola III would say.
Below are some photos that were captured that day:

LAST CHANCE
2022 Scholarship Funds
will be offered by the
Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of NJ
The charitable arm of the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of NJ is offering two educational and technical training scholarships. These funds are available to Morris, Essex, Union, Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren residents intending to pursue a career associated with the home building/remodeling industry. The 2022 awards are funded through the generosity of New Jersey Builders Association and Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of NJ members and other interested parties. The Association is responding to the industry’s dire need for skilled craftsman and craftswomen. A total of two scholarships of $1,250 each will be awarded.
In all cases, candidates must be full-time or part-time students who will attend accredited institutions with the intent of pursuing a building/construction-related degree or certification. Construction related is defined as general construction (i.e., carpenter, plumber, electrician, or any other trade related to the building/remodeling industry) or degree programs including, but not limited to: Drafting and Design, Construction Technology, Mechanical Contracting, HVAC Technology, Real Estate and Marketing, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Design, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Environmental Technology, Land Use Management, Construction and Business Management, and Landscape Architecture.
Scholarships will be awarded in the form of tuition paid directly to the institution. The selection process, conducted by the Scholarship Fund Committee, will be based on the following criteria: (1) the student’s desire to enter the building/remodeling industry as a career, (2) the student’s academic ability/potential and (3) the student’s financial need.
To be considered for all scholarships, students will need to complete the application from Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of New Jersey. The deadline for all completed applications is extended to May 20, 2022. You may mail the application to the Metro office address or email it to memberservices@metrobca.org
